Rockslide on Hwy 97

UPDATE: 4:40 p.m.

RCMP are conducting traffic  control on Highway 97 south of Antler's Beach in Peachland following a rockslide Friday afternoon.
Motorists initially reported that debris as large as garbage cans covered the southbound lane of the highway, while smaller debris covered much of the northbound lane.
"Traffic continues to flow slowly in both directions at this time, under the direction of RCMP at the scene, with one lane alternating traffic," says Cpl. Jesse O'Donaghey.

"Police have not received any reports of any injuries at this time."
RCMP recommend that the public monitor the Drive BC website for updated information.

A rockslide south of Peachland is affecting traffic in both directions this afternoon.

The slide occurred sometime around 3 p.m. just south of Antlers Beach.

The entire southbound lane is covered with large rocks, while smaller debris covers much of the northbound lane.

Traffic is able to use a paved pullout next to the slide.

Motorists report traffic is backed up on both directions.

Emergency crews are not yet on the scene.
