Moose helps herself to hay

Moose spotted at Buckerfield's in West Kelowna.

A moose that has been spotted around West Kelowna was caught stealing a bite to eat on Monday.

Buckerfield’s Country Store employees were shocked when they spotted the large moose inside their warehouse on Main Street in West Kelowna.

“It was inside the warehouse eating hay,” said Stephanie Illig whose husband works at the store. "They have chickens in the back there."

The moose has been named Millie by some locals and has been spotted stopping into their yards.

"Oh my gosh, don't get too close," she told her husband.

A family living on Yorkton Road told Castanet back in February that a moose charged at their dog.

Residents living in the area should be aware of the moose and never approach the animal.
