Is stolen jewelry yours?

Police are looking for the rightful owners of hundreds of pieces of stolen jewelry and other items found in a West Kelowna house.

RCMP seized a large amount of suspected stolen property on Dec. 7, including rings, necklaces, bracelets earrings, purses, sunglasses and watches.

“Our investigators believe it is likely that the items have come from multiple residential break and enters,” Cpl. Jesse O’Donaghey said Thursday.

“Police are encouraging residents of the West Kelowna and Peachland areas, who have been the victim of a break and enter ... to contact the lead investigator ... in hopes of claiming their personal property.”

Since first alerting the public of the seizure on Dec. 14, about 20 per cent of the stolen property has been returned.

"At least a dozen individuals have been reunited with their recovered personal property, over the past two weeks," said O'Donaghey.

Police will keep the remaining items until Jan. 15 before they are “disposed of accordingly.”
