City hall overcrowding

Now that the prospect of building a new city hall is in the rearview mirror, West Kelowna is looking at new ways of alleviating overcrowding at the current Boucherie Mountain facility.

The city has entered into an agreement to lease office space in the Lakeview Village development on Anders Road.

About 20 staff members will relocate once the development is ready for occupancy in the spring of next year.

It's not known yet which services will be moved to the new location.

The city has also announced the spending of $450,000 to purchase nearly four acres of property in Rose Valley for future sportsfield development.

The city has agreed to purchase the 3.72 ac re property at 1506 Rose Meadow Drive. The property is adjacent to the Rosewood Sportsfield.

The sale is expected to close next month.

The property could be the site of a new soccer facility, currently proposed by the Westside Youth Soccer Association.
