Gellatly Rd finally reopens

After nearly three months, Gellatly Road is finally open again to traffic.

The portion of the road below Highway 97, between Witt and Boucherie roads, was closed May 5 after spring flooding of nearby Smith Creek eroded the slope next to the road.

The city was forced to make repairs to the road just north of where repairs were made three years ago, after similar flooding eroded the slope farther down Gellatly Road.

Construction to repair the flood-impacted Gellatly Walkway, adjacent to Gellatly Road on the waterfront, is expected to be complete at the end of August.

Motorists can expect single-lane, alternating traffic during construction.
