A West Kelowna man has been formally charged with attempted murder in last month's shooting at the Pineridge Mobile Home Park.
In a release sent out Friday, Cpl. Jesse O'Donaghey of the Kelowna RCMP says 35-year-old Jeremy Matherly has been charged in the early morning Nov. 6 shooting.
At 6 a.m. police were called to the area for reports of shots fired. Police said a man had been bear sprayed and shot after he was confronted by two people.
The 33-year-old victim was taken to the hospital with serious, but non-life threatening injuries.
Police arrested two men, after tracking the suspects with the help of a K9 unit in the wooded area below Mission Hill Winery.
Police initially arrested two men, a 36-year-old and a 40-year-old.
Matherly was not one of the men initially arrested.
The RCMP investigation is ongoing, but Matherly is expected to appear next in court on Dec. 20.
Matherly has a criminal history. He was arrested in Merritt in August of 2005, and charged with possession of stolen property under $5,000, theft under $5,000 and possession of a controlled substance.
In early 2007, he was arrested and charged with breach of probation and possession of stolen property. He was handed a small jail sentence.
