Firefighting aircraft will be putting on a show this week in the sky above West Kelowna.
The aviation demonstration is part of the Wildland Fire Canada 2016 conference, taking place this week at the Delta Grand in Kelowna.
The provincial government says don't be alarmed – and don't get in the way.
"An airtanker will be dropping water on a forested hillside in the Smith Creek area and will also conduct a flyover of conference attendees gathered near the intersection of Highway 97 and Gellatly Road," says the province.
"In the interest of safety, the public is asked to avoid both of these areas, particularly around the site of the 2014 Smith Creek wildfire."
Some of the pre-eminent experts on wildfires and climate change are discussing strategies, tactics, managing landscapes and community planning, among other topics this week.
