No bail after date kidnapped

The man accused of kidnapping a woman he met on a dating site remains in custody, after he delayed his bail hearing one week on Thursday.

Police arrested 36-year-old Jean-Francois Dufour on Aug. 18 after a woman had reported being held against her will on the evening of Aug. 12.

The victim reported she had met the man on a dating website and then met him in person a few times before the Aug. 12 incident.

On the Friday night, the man is accused of confining the woman in his silver 2000 Dodge Durango in Peachland and drove her around the area for several hours against her will.

The woman received a non-life threatening injury during the incident.

Using the help of an RCMP fixed-wing aircraft, police found Dufour six days after the incident. He was arrested without incident.

Dufour has been charged with kidnapping, forcible confinement, sexual assault and uttering threats.

He will remain in custody until his bail hearing on Sept. 22.
