Lots of calls but no fire yet

Residents in the Westbank area panicked this afternoon after seeing what looked like smoke rising from a wooded area off Gates Road, near Glenrosa Road.

However West Kelowna firefighters say it was just dust from a dirt bike track.

Meanwhile, fire captain Troy Russell says there have been plenty of telephone calls today from concerned citizens, asking about the campfire ban.

Russell says he's happy people are checking with officials.

With high temperatures expected all weekend, the Central Okanagan Regional District has imposed a campfire ban.
