Westside Daze kicks off

The largest family celebration in the Central Okanagan kicks off tonight with the start of Westside Daze.

The four-day event concludes Sunday afternoon.

Most of the activities will be centred around Memorial Park, below Johnson-Bentley Memorial Pool.

The main exception is the annual parade, the largest in the province outside of Victoria and the Lower Mainland.

The parade, which kicks off Saturday morning at 10:30 a.m., starts at the intersection of Old Okanagan Highway and Butt Road, making its way to Drought and Brown roads.

The RBC Cup champion West Kelowna Warriors will lead the parade. Westside-Kelowna MLA and Premier Christy Clark may also put in an appearance at the parade.

Festivities kick off Thursday evening with the official opening ceremonies at 6:30 p.m., followed by an evening of stage entertainment, highlighted by Rann Berry's Motown Soul Review.

Kinshira Fire Troupe conclude the opening evening's entertainment.
