Possible impairment in crash

The man who crashed his truck through a chain link fence in West Kelowna Thursday could be facing impaired driving charges, following lab results.

Police responded to a single-vehicle crash on Bartley Road, near Ross Road, about 2:30 p.m.

A 1993 GMC pickup had crashed through a fence and come to rest in a ditch.

“Investigators at the scene detained the allegedly unlicensed driver who exhibited signs and symptoms of suspected alcohol intoxication,” Const. Jesse O’Donaghey said in a statement.

Police obtained a blood sample from the man to check his intoxication level, and he was transported to the hospital with what police believe to be serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

RCMP say the 55-year-old West Kelowna man could face potential impaired driving charges, pending lab analysis of his blood.
