Car fire doused

UPDATE: March 29, 7:45 a.m.

West Kelowna Fire Rescue crews made quick work of a car fire Monday night on 2200 block of Hayman Road.

“The driver smelled gasoline driving down Hayman Road, he pulled over, got out of the car and the car burst into flames,” says assistant fire chief Brent Watson.

The call came into the station at 6:50 p.m. and WKFR responded with two engines.

“We knocked the fire down quickly and there were no structures threatened,” says Watson, who adds the driver got out safely as well.

“We do not know what the cause was, but it does not appear suspicious at all.”
