Veterinarian ready to help

Once again, Dr. Oz of Rose Valley Veterinary Hospital is opening his doors to cats or dogs displaced by the Bear Creek fire.

While no evacuation orders have been given, Oz said should people have to evacuate their homes, they can bring their pets to his clinic at 2476 Westlake Rd.

“I will help with medications, with food, with anything they need. It's all free of charge. That's what I'm here for,” said Oz, adding if anyone needs to bring their pet in they can contact him at 250-769-9109.
Last year, Oz took in some 90 cats displaced by the Shannon Lake fire.

“We have done this before,” he said. “We all know the drill.:

Residents are on evacuation alert in the area north of Parkinson Road including Bear Creek Road, Bear Creek Main, Rose Valley Road, Petterson Road and Dougmac Road.

Residents in the area are advised to be ready to leave their home at a moment’s notice. They should be prepared to be away from their home for an extended period of time, make arrangements for pets and pack essential items such as medicines and important documents.

Bear Creek Main at Westside Road and Bear Creek Road at Parkinson Road are closed to traffic as a result of the fire.
