Area restriction near Smith Creek

An Area Restriction Order is in effect immediately for areas surrounding the Smith Creek fire in order to protect the safety of firefighting personnel and the public.

An area restriction order has been put in place to keep fire crews safe.

This Area Restriction will remain in place until July 31, 2014 or until the Order is rescinded.

Specifically, this Order applies to:

North Boundary: as represented on the attached map

East Boundary: Paramount Drive to Shannon Heights Place following the fire perimeter

South Boundary: Smith Creek Road, Copper Ridge Drive continuing east to the fire perimeter at Paramount Drive

West Boundary: Straight line from Smith Creek Road to the north boundary as represented on the attached map                               

This Area Restriction Order does not apply to people travelling to or from their residence or to anyone using the highway, as defined in the Highway Act.

Anyone found in contravention of the Area Restriction Order may be issued a fine of up to $5,000 or spend up to six months in jail.
