Ensign tosses hat into ring

Businessman, Rusty Ensign, is the first to declare his intention to seek a seat on West Kelowna Council.

Ensign, 54, made the announcement Thursday morning.

In a news release, Ensign says he brings with him experience in quality decision making and a pledge to build and grow a strong and vibrant West Kelowna.

Ensign, born and raised in the community, says he has worked hard to fulfill his dreams and the reams he has for the community.

If elected, Ensign says his top priorities include:

  • Road maintenance and snow removal
  • Illegal dumping and cleaning program
  • Sidewalks
  • Professional development planning
  • Providing for our youth

Ensign says he is prepared to work with mayor and council to get things done.

This is not Ensign's first foray into politics.

He was unsuccessful in his bid for mayor of what was then Westside in 2007 and for a council seat in 2011 and failed in his attempt to gain the federal Conservative nomination in 2011.
