Shannon Lake park open house

On Tuesday, June 24 from 4 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. the public is invited to learn about a proposed project in Shannon Lake Regional Park that would provide more accessible opportunities for fishing.

Regional Parks Services staff will be on hand for an Open House in Shannon Lake Regional Park, located at Swite Road and Shannon Lake Road in West Kelowna.

The Regional District has the opportunity to accept a $20,000 donation of a floating dock and its installation for Shannon Lake Regional Park from the Freshwater Fisheries Society of BC, the Habitat Conservation Trust Fund and Province of BC. This T-shaped floating dock would provide enhanced fishing access for anglers of every age and skill level. The proposed main dock would be 48 feet long and eight feet wide with guardrails and a 32 feet long and six feet wide connecting walkway.

If you would like to learn more about the proposed project, ask questions, or provide feedback please attend the Open House. A questionnaire will be available for comments, which also will be available online at www.regionaldistrict.com/parks. Simply download, fill it out and email or mail it back to the Regional District by June 27th.

Shannon Lake Regional Park is approximately 3.7-hectares in size, with a lakeside picnic area, and short trail system along the south and east side of the lake. It’s played host to the highly successful ‘Go Fish’ urban youth fishery program for the past seven years in partnership with the Freshwater Fisheries Society, Summerland Trout Hatchery and Peachland Sportsmen’s Association.
