Milsom not seeking re-election

Gord Milsom's name will not be on the ballot when West Kelowna voters go to the polls in November.

Milsom was elected to the first council of what was the District of Westside in November of 2007.

He was successfully re-elected for three year terms in 2008 and 2011.

Milsom is stepping aside to devote more time to his financial planning practice, continue with community service and enjoy more free time with family and friends.

"(I am) very grateful for the opportunity to serve this wonderful community and to have been part of the creation of the structure, policies and bylaws of our new municipality," said Milsom in a brief statement.

"Strong financial management, a safe community and greater access to health care on the Westside have been important issues."

Voters go to the polls November 15, 2014.
