Bank washout on Gellatly

A section of Gellatly Road has gotten the attention of the District of West Kelowna.

A portion of the bank alongside the road, just up from Boucherie Road, has given way from erosion cased by the water rushing down Smith Creek.

Due to the washout, the district has commissioned a Geotechnical report on the stability of the bank.

Once the report is complete remediation efforts will be conducted as required.

Barricades have been erected in the area to keep pedestrians away from the bank.

District engineers say there is no concerns for motorists travelling along the road.

West Kelowna has already committed funds to upgrade that portion of Gellatly Road.

Design work is expected to be undertaken later this year.
