Snowy, icy roads mar westside commute

Several crashes hampered commuters on roads on the westside Wednesday morning.

At least four separate crashes kept fire, police and utility crews hopping.

The new Wine Route section of Boucherie Road between Hudson and Hwy 97 claimed two vehicles.

Witnesses in the area say a vehicle slammed into a utility pole about 6 a.m.

About 9 a.m., a second vehicle took out a new tree and signage on same meridian. The vehicle went off the road over an embankment and into the ditch.

There were two other crashes as well, one on Louie Drive near Bering Road and a second on the median turning off Carrington Road onto Butt Road.

There were no reports of injuries.

Roads, especially side streets, were extremely slippery Wednesday morning due to the snowfall.
