Update: The parent info session for prospective Grade 10 students has been rescheduled for sometime next week.
Authorities at the school have not yet fixed a date, as it must fit with both staff at Mount Boucherie as well as the feeder schools.
Grade nine students and their parents were left out in the cold after a fire evacuated the entire school Tuesday night.
Parents and teens were in high attendance around 7:20 p.m. at Mount Boucherie Secondary School for a ‘Welcome to Mount Boucherie’ event.
Witnesses on the scene say fire crews were called after a piece of paper was lit on fire in a stairwell.
Fire fighters arrived on the scene but the fire had already been put out.
Students on the scene tell Castanet they had been invited with their parents to check out the school and learn more about the programs available to the new students.
The West Kelowna Fire Department put in fans to clear the school of smoke and the decision was made to cancel the event midway through.
The cancellation was a disappointment to a group of teens from the school that was scheduled to perform for the parents later that evening.
