Ice rescue training in Shannon Lake

Residents may see and hear activity on Shannon Lake during the evenings of Jan 28 and Feb 4 as West Kelowna Fire Rescue personnel conduct training exercises.

Firefighters will hone their skills in break through ice rescue techniques during practices that will occur between 6:30 and 9:30 p.m. both nights.

Break through ice response is one of several rescue services West Kelowna firefighters provide in addition to fire protection and prevention and emergency first response.

Residents may notice flashlights or spotlights on the lake or near the shore and hear the shouts of firefighters and trainers as they communicate back and forth as part of the training drills.
