Thieves apparently knew what they were looking for when they stole a $3,000 sled deck from Desert Trailer Sales in West Kelowna sometime overnight .
According to company service manager, Randy Braund, those responsible for the theft had to move several trailers out of the way in order to get to the sled deck.
A sled deck sits in the back of a truck box to transport snowmobiles.
"They had to move five trailers, and one trailer was an equipment trailer that had probably a ton weight of 500 pounds at least," says Braund.
"It took a number of guys to move that out of the way to get the other smaller aluminum trailers out of the way. Then they got to the trailer with the sled deck on it, dragged it over, down the alleyway to a gap between two trailers."
He says they then drove their truck onto their neighbours' lot (Boyd Auto Body), cut the chain and loaded it onto the back of another truck.
Braund says there were two distinct tread patterns indicating there must have been two vehicles used in the robbery.
He also believes there must have been at least four people involved, in order to lift the stuff and move the trailer out of the way.
RCMP are reviewing surveillance video from Boyd Auto Body to determine if the thieves were caught on camera.
Braund says the way trailers were moved in order to access the sled deck he believes the thieves had scoped out the business beforehand and knew exactly what they wanted and what they needed to get it.
