Alleged Westside shooter to stand trial

The third member of the trio accused in the Westside shooting, during the summer of 2012, will have to stand trial.

Ashley Collins has been battling the charges against her saying she was not a principal contributor to the crimes and was just 'along for the ride.'

The suspects are accused of high-jacking three vehicles during the chase down Westside Rd., which ended near the Swan Lake turnoff close to Vernon, after police deployed a spike belt.

Collins was shot in the back during the incident, but appears to have made a full recovery.

Collins will now join Shawn Adam Wysynsk and Michael Edward Ellis and face trial for the 18 charges against them, including numerous weapons charges and attempted murder.

Collins sat in the courtroom Monday with two family members. Collins showed little emotion and left the court room in a hurry unwilling to speak to reporters.

While Collins has remained out of jail since the fall of 2012, Wysynski and Ellis have served their time behind bars awaiting the trial.

All three will be back in court January 20, 2014 to set a date for the trial.
