Rockets fire blanks in loss

The Rockets, who have just three wins since the Christmas break, started the new month the way they ended the old - on the wrong end of the scoreboard.

Adam Beckman scored twice and Reece Klassen stopped all 25 shots he faced, leading the Spokane Chiefs past the Rockets 4-0 Friday in the Washington city.

Jake McGrew in the first and Beckman in the second beat James Porter who started the night, but left late in the second frame.

Roman Basran finished the final 23:11, giving up third period goals to Nolan Reid and Beckman.

The Rockets were able to muster up just six shots in the final period as they tried to battle their way back into the game.

Kelowna now finds itself dangerously close to falling out of a playoff spot.

They are just a single point better than both Kamloops and Seattle, who are tied for the second wild card spot in the Western Conference.

Kamloops can leap frog the Rockets when the two teams meet Saturday at Prospera Place.
