Fog puts halt to WHL game

The Western Hockey League has announced that the conclusion of Saturday night’s game between the Brandon Wheat Kings and Moose Jaw Warriors has been suspended in the interest of player safety.

Due to severe fog conditions, the game was halted with 5:37 remaining in the second period and Moose Jaw leading by a 2-1 score.

The remainder of the game will be completed at a date and time to be determined in the days to follow.

It's not the first time fog has played havoc with a hockey game. The most memorable was probably a Stanley Cup final game in Buffalo between the Sabres and Philadelphia.

Unusual heat outside and the lack of air conditioning inside caused the foggy conditions.

During stoppages in play, rink attendants skating around the ice waving bed sheets to try and clear the fog.
