Rockets make ratings jump

The Kelowna Rockets have moved up a couple of spots in the latest CHL rankings released Wednesday.

The Rockets, who entered the season unranked despite a trip to last year's Memorial Cup final, have moved into sixth spot nationally.

The 14-5-1-0 Rockets picked up three of a possible four points last week. They beat Vancouver 2-1 in a shootout before falling 4-3 in overtime to the Spokane Chiefs.

The Rockets were ranked eighth a week ago.

Three other Western Hockey League teams, Red Deer (5), Seattle (8) and Prince Albert (10) are also ranked this week. The Victoria Royals received an honourable mention.

The OHL's Erie Otters (17-2-1-0), are the number one ranked team in the CHL.

The Rockets return to action Wednesday night when they face the Blazers in Kamloops.

It's the first meeting between the BC Division rivals since the Rockets won back-to-back games to open the season.

The Rockets will return home to host Edmonton Friday and Vancouver Saturday.
