Rockets fall in Van city

The Vancouver Giants built up a 5-0 lead and cruised to a 5-2 victory over the Kelowna Rockets Saturday at the Pacific Colisium.

It was the Rockets first loss of the season after opening the campaign with back-to-back wins over Kamloops.

It was also the third game for the Rockets in as many nights,

The Rockets will have to get used to the compressed schedule. They have another three-in-three weekend this coming weekend when they travel through Alberta.

Tomas Soustal scored one of the Rockets goals, his fourth of the season. He's now scored in each of the first three games. Lucas Johansen had the other.

Vancouver built up a 2-0 lead after one the blew the game open with three goals in the first five-and-a-half minutes of the second. Two of those came on five minutes power-play.

Dillon Dube was handed the major and game misconduct for kneeing.

The Rockets cut the deficit by one on the power-play before the middle frame ended and had a chance to climb back into it when Vancouver took three straight minor penalties in the third but were able to manage just an even strength goal from Soustal.

Michael Herringer allowed five goals on 31 shots to take the loss.
