Rockets fall to Royals

The Victoria Royals snapped a 1-1 tie with three straight goals in the third period Saturday in a 5-2 victory over the Kelowna Rockets.

The win allowed the Royals to salvage the back end of back-to-back games between the BC Division rivals.

Brandon Magee, Jack Walker and Taylor Crunk all scored for the Royals giving Victoria a commanding 4-1 lead.

Leon Draisaitl got one back on a power-play with three minutes left, however, Travis Brown hit the empty net 37 seconds later to seal the victory.

Dillon Dube scored the other Rockets goal six minutes into the opening period. The goal came minutes after Crunk had opened the scoring for the Royals.

Michael Herringer, making his second start in as many nights stopped 34 shots fired his way as the Royals outshot Kelowna 39-33.

The two teams will get a chance to renew friendships when they meet again Wednesday a Prospera Place.
