BC's Wildfire Management Branch is calling Sunday's fire person-caused.
On Tuesday, Fire Information Officer Kayla Pepper said the investigation into the wildfire at Ellison Provincial Park is continuing, but an exact cause is not yet known.
"There are 10 fire fighters heading out to patrol the site today to check for hot spots. We haven't seen any increase in fire behaviour," said Pepper.
She credits the quick response of Vernon Fire Department, local wildfire crews, and air tanker support with getting the blaze under control so quickly.
"We started receiving reports just after 4:30 p.m. There was an initial attack crew onsite quickly, and the Vernon Fire Department was already there dealing with the evacuation," she said.
Tankers were able to safely action the fire as soon as campers were out of harm's way.
"We had two air tanker groups from Penticton and Kamloops as well as two heli-tankers. A 20-person unit crew also attended and worked the fire through the night."
The final size of the wildfire is estimated at 2.2 hectares.
Vernon's wildfire Incident Commander, Steve Olson, expects to demobilize fire crews in the next day or so, depending on how Tuesday's mop-up progresses.
Investigators have already been onsite to collect evidence for fire cause analysis.
"We have members from the Ministry of Forests, Lands and Natural Resources, the compliance and enforcement officers, who came in from the Vernon District Office to investigate yesterday," said Olson.
Olson says it will be several days, possibly weeks, before we hear the results of the investigation.
