Lunch Hour Teen Car Shows

Students in local high schools will have a chance to put their vehicles on display and learn a valuable lesson in road safety according to ICBC.

The lunch hour show will have students competing in categories such as vintage, best decorated, cleanest, best street legal custom and best of show. Along with free t-shirts, giveaways and a barbeque on the front of a vintage car, students will receive a strong message: you don't have to drive recklessly to impress your friends.

Car crashes are the number one killer of youth in British Columbia. In 2003, 83 people between 13 and 21 were killed and 9,300 more were injured in crashes in this province.

Greg McGill of Whillis Harding Agencies hopes the car shows will encourage youth to put their energy into making their vehicle look good, not into making it fast.

The 'best of show' winner from each school will be invited to bring his or her vehicle to the Boyd Father's Day Show & Shine in June.

Whillis Harding Agencies is sponsoring the high school car shows as part of its involvement in the Autoplan Brokers Road Safety Program, which funds and promotes road safety initiatives in communities throughout British Columbia.
