A 15-year-old girl is in hospital in Vernon with a possible fractured pelvis after she was struck by a vehicle Saturday evening.
The incident occurred at the intersection of 32 Street and 25 Avenue in Vernon sometime before 9:30 p.m.
According to witnesses the girl had possibly crossed the street on a red light while the driver of a grey GMC pick up involved in the incident was heading southbound on a green light.
"The driver of the truck a 77-year-old man stated a vehicle was coming out of the yield into his lane directly in front of him and he focused his attention on it," says RCMP spokesman, Gord Molendyk.
"A passenger in the truck noticed the pedestrian dart across the road and tried to alert the driver who quickly hit his brakes but was too late."
Molendyk says police are continuing to investigate the cause of the accident and determine who was at fault.
