BC Conservatives acclaim candidate

Scott Anderson was acclaimed as candidate by the Vernon-Monashee membership of the British Columbia Conservatives at a nomination meeting held at the Schubert Center in Vernon Saturday. 

"I am humbled and very honoured by the level of support I've received," said Anderson.  "And it's obvious that John Cummins has strong, perhaps even unanimous, support from the party members in Vernon-Monashee too."

About 50 people listened to speeches from:  BC Conservative leader John Cummins, Scott Anderson, and former Conservative MP Darrel Stinson.  Vernon-Monashee CA President Ian Tribes introduced the speakers and acted as moderator.  Former MP Bill Gilmour also arrived from Osoyoos to show his support for Anderson.

"Despite the minor bump in the road that originated from a small, noisy group of dissidents in Vancouver, it's important to note that according to the most recent Angus Reid poll we're neck and neck with the BC Liberals in the Interior," said Anderson.  "Within a month I anticipate we'll have passed the Liberals and be challenging the NDP.  By next May Vernon-Monashee voters will have a clear choice between the tax-and-spend NDP and the common-sense Conservatives.  The Liberals simply won't matter anymore.”

Stinson wasted no words in reference to the BC Liberals, "Let's throw the bums out!"

Anderson's campaign team has numerous events planned for the coming months, including an Octoberfest party, town halls, a Christmas party and potluck suppers. His first act as a new candidate will be to kick off a food drive for the Salvation Army Food Bank.
