Update Friday September 28 4 p.m. - Investigators from the Vernon RCMP were in Kamloops today for the autopsy of Terrence Fergus, 47, of Vernon he has been identified as the man found in Polson Park on Wednesday.

The results of the autopsy are not being released at this time. Police are continuing to work on this file, including following up on numerous tips that have come in from the public on this case. Investigators are hoping to be able to have a further update on this case early next week.

Foul play has not been ruled out after the body of a man in his 40's was discovered in Polson Park Wednesday evening.

Police have cordoned off a portion of Polson Park

Vernon RCMP say the man's body was found near the water feature in the park shortly after 9:30 p.m.

RCMP spokesman Gord Molendyk says the man has been identified as a person police have had contact with over the past several months.

"Police have not ruled out foul play at this time, and the Serious Crimes Unit has been called in to assist in the investigation," says Molendyk.

"No immediate cause of death is obvious at this time, and police are working with the Coroners Service to have an autopsy conducted as soon as possible."

Molendyk says police have already contacted several family members and have spoken with numerous witnesses.

Anyone who may have seen the man lying near the park bench Wednesday night is asked to contact Vernon RCMP at 250-545-7171.
