Couple used candy to try and lure boy
Vernon RCMP are following up on a report of an attempt to lure and 11-year-old boy into a vehicle.
According to the boy he was with friends on Blackcomb Way off Silver Star Road Saturday when he was approached by two people in a van.
The victim told police he was walking home from the park with several friends when a man and woman, both believed to be in their 40's attempted to lure him into their van by saying they had candy.
"The victim did not cooperate and left," says RCMP spokesman, Gord Molendyk.
"He believes it was a Toyota mini-van white in colour. No plate was obtained."
Molendyk says police encourage parents whose children are approached by strangers to report it to police immediately.
Police would also like to remind parents to speak to their children about how to react if they are approached by strangers.
"Do not go to the vehicle - run home or to a safe location. Do not travel alone. All safety precautions should be taken."
