Man hides from RCMP, in a creek
Vernon RCMP make an arrest after a violent string of events.
It started when several witnesses claimed a 54-year-old man stole a bottle of vodka from the liquor store and was attempting to sell it. One of two people he tried to sell it to grabbed the bottle and took off running.
The suspect followed a second person into the Subway where he allegedly kicked a 'wet floor' sign at her and began yelling at her asking who the man was that was with her.
On the way out of the Subway the suspect kicked the door, smashing the glass.
Officers followed the man to Polson Park where he was found attempting to hide by lying in a creek.
RCMP spokesperson Gord Molendyk says the man refused to come out of the water when asked to do so by police.
"He resisted arrest and had to be removed from the creek. Through all of this the bottle of vodka was recovered by police, and returned to the liquor store."
Charges of theft and mischief charges are expected to be laid against the suspect.
