Vernon and North Okanagan

Charges have been laid against a Vernon man in connection with a stabbing incident at Polson Park Monday night.

Mitchell Wade Carefoot, 35, has been charged with Aggravated Assault and Assault with a Weapon.

Carefoot was released from custody on very strict conditions.

He is scheduled to appear in court again September 13.

Carefoot was arrested after a 44-year-old Vernon man was stabbed several times in the park.

The incident occurred about 9:30 p.m. Monday.

The victim remains in hospital recovering from his wounds.
