Vernon/North Okanagan RCMP are investigating a fatal pedestrian/motor-vehicle collision that occurred near the intersection of Highway 6 and Aberdeen Road. The deceased is a 22 year old woman who resides in Coldstream.

The collision occurred at approximately 9 p.m. on Friday, April 30, however, it was not immediately reported to police. When the woman didn’t show for work that night, she was reported missing to the RCMP. Attempts to locate the woman included efforts by her family, the RCMP, and Search and Rescue to search the route she normally took to get to work.

At approximately 6 a.m. Saturday morning the woman’s body was discovered near the scene of the collision several metres from the road. Police have since arrested a 26-year-old male in relation to this incident, and are continuing to investigate.

RCMP are not releasing the woman's name, however, friends of the woman have identified her as Kiera-Leigh Carlson, who worked at Club 29/29.
