Suspect in robbery spree arrested

Vernon RCMP believe they have their man.

Late Monday afternoon police arrested a 37-year-old man on an outstanding breach of probation warrant out of Nakusp.

Spokesman Gord Molendyk says during follow-up interviews and investigation on the outstanding robberies, police realized the man closely matched the description of the suspect in the nine Vernon robberies.

"As a result of a lot of leg work and speaking to witnesses, it was determined that the male in custody was the person they believed responsible for the robberies that had been committed over the past couple weeks," says Molendyk.

He says the Vernon man is expected to appear in Provincial Court Wednesday to answer to a number of charges of armed robbery.

The investigation is continuing on the remaining outstanding robbery files.
