An Edmonton man is in Vernon hospital following a single vehicle accident on Highway 97 near Falkland Wednesday evening.
Police say the vehicle was travelling south after leaving a service station in Falkland.
"The investigation has determined the couple had just left the service station when the driver swerved to avoid a deer," says RCMP spokesman, Gord Molendyk.
He says the vehicle left the road and rolled several times before ending up in a field. The victim was ejected from the car.
"The passenger had not fastened his seatbelt prior to leaving the service station. This contributed to him being ejected."
Molendyk says the man received serious, non specified injuries.
The 22-year-old female driver from Victoria was not injured.
