Psychic finds missing Lumby woman

A missing Lumby woman has been found, but Vernon police are left with more questions than answers as to how she came to be found by a psychic, less than 300 metres from her home.

Margit Lobesz, 79, was reported missing by her family on June 14.

Gord Molendyk of the Vernon RCMP says she was found late Sunday night at a creek near her home, just where the psychic said she‘d be.

He says although the method used by the family to locate her seems to have worked, it has left the RCMP with many unanswered questions.

“Search and Rescue had been in that area previously and she wasn’t there. The psychic had said she would be found within a few minutes of her home, near water. Basically, some things about this aren’t adding up so the police are continuing to do follow ups with the woman and her family,” says Molendyk.

He says Lobesz was taken to the hospital to be treated.

“She was conscious when she was found, but it looks like she may have suffered a stroke sometime in the last two days. She is 4’11” and weighs just 55 lbs. I don’t think a person that size has the body mass to be out in the bush for two days. There’s just a lot of unanswered questions right now.”

Molendyk says police departments do sometimes use psychics, but only after a case has been open for a long period of time.
