Hitting a cop has landed a Cherryville resident in trouble with the law.
The 24-year-old resident struck a police officer who came upon a single vehicle accident last Friday on Highway 6, near McInnis Road.
"The vehicle had sheared off a power pole and the occupants were attempting to leave," says Corporal, Henry Proce.
"Police stopped to investigate and were met with a wall of opposition from the registered owner and his two passengers," Proce says. "One of the passengers, a 24 year old Cherryville resident, struck one of the officers in the face and was subdued."
"No one admitted to driving and the matter remains under investigation. Alcohol was definitely a factor in the accident."
