Robert Lee hoping to secure another term as Vernon School District trustee

Lee going for third term

Robert Lee is hoping to secure another term as Vernon School District trustee.

Lee has been a School District 22 trustee for two terms and has spent 33 years as an educator.

Lee said his goals as a trustee are:

  • Continue to improve our academic achievement. I want SD22 to be the best in the province
  • Need to have more than one trustee for Coldstream/Lavington
  • Based on equity and population
  • Review our current open door policy in regards to student and staff safety
  • There are other available systems for public entry aside from a constant open door
  • Renew Revenue Generation Committee

This committee was shut down due to Covid but needs to return. It's important for SD22 to have alternate revenue sources which are not dependent upon Victoria. Alternate independent revenue allows us to provide additional resources over the basic allocation and will enhance our student learning

Lee spent two years of his second term as board chairperson.

“I stepped aside as chair during my second term because I believe it is very important that as many trustees as possible have the opportunity to work as chair and vice chair. I do not believe that being a chair is a position to be held forever. In order to build bench strength, other trustees must have opportunities to broaden their horizons,” Lee said, who, according to his website, was the invited trustee for all Coldstream and Lavington PACs as well as several other Vernon PACs.

Eligible voters will head to the polls Oct. 15 to elected municipal leaders and school district trustees.
