RCMP are trying to identify a man who may have attempted to abduct a child in Okanagan Landing.
An eight year old boy was walking home from school when he was approached by a man just before 12:30 p.m. Friday.
Constable Cathy Scott says the boy was walking near the Okanagan Landing Fire Department on Okanagan Landing Road.
“He was walking through the front parking lot of the fire hall when a lone male driving a small white car stopped his vehicle. The man got out of his vehicle and told the boy ‘I want to give you a ride home.’ The boy was able to elude the man by running away. There was no further incident,” says Scott.
She says the suspect was not known to the victim, no injuries were sustained and no further reports of a similar nature have been received.
“The vehicle was described as a small white domestic car. The suspect was described as approximately 40-years-old, with dark hair and darker skin. He was fairly big with a scar on the right side of his face and was wearing a black jacket.”
Police are continuing to try and identify the suspect.
