Silver Star water issues resolved

Water will soon be flowing more easily at Silver Star in the North Okanagan.

Issues surrounding the mountain’s water supply have been resolved and long-awaited development is expected to start in the spring.

Developer for Firelight, Silver Star’s newest real estate offering, Paul Plocktis, says the North Okanagan Regional District Board and Silver Star Resort have been working to resolve water supply issues.

“Under the new agreement, NORD assumes temporary responsibility for the existing well until the province officially approves the new reservoir, at which time ownership will revert back to Silver Star,” says Plocktis.

He says the legal logjam was broken in part by the efforts of the resort’s property owners who were tired of waiting for the matter to be settled.

“They organized, wrote letters to both municipal and provincial governments as well as applied pressure at district meetings. The result? A solution to the water issue and a green light for building permits totalling over $25 million in construction. Thanks to this positive news, purchasers from the local Vernon area, other parts of BC, Canada, United States, UK, and overseas are now lining up for Silver Star's newest real estate offering, FireLight at the Pond.”

Plocktis says Silver Star had been turning away tourist traffic due to a lack of accommodations.
