A change is coming for the Vernon RCMP.
Corporal Henry Proce has transferred to the Lumby office and a new media relations officer will soon take over his duties.
Sergeant David Evans says the name of the media relations officer will not be released until the officer completes a media training course next month.
“There is always a slight chance the person may not pass the media course which takes place in Chilliwack. Then we’d have to retract the name and look for a new person,” says Evans.
He says the media course will teach the person things such as the proper way to release information to the public through the media and how to write a media release.
Evans says the officer selected for the position is an existing member of the Vernon detachment.
Proce’s last day in Vernon was September 4. He has already begun his new duties in Lumby.
