A 17-yr-old is in RCMP custody in Vernon after being arrested early Friday morning driving a stolen vehicle.
About 1:20 a.m. police pulled over a vehicle on Highway 6 near 15th Ave. with four young men inside.
“The vehicle had been stolen,” says Gordon Molendyk with the Vernon RCMP. “All of the young men were arrested and returned to cells.”
Three of the males were released from jail, but the 17-yr-old driver remains in custody. As a young offender, the driver cannot be identified, but police say they have had previous run-ins with him.
“This same male was arrested in another stolen vehicle about a month ago,” says Molendyk.
The youth is facing charges relating both to the theft of the vehicle and to other stolen property.
