Dad Jumps From Car

A father and daughter are in trouble with the law after a bizarre incident in Vernon this week.

The incident took place at around 3 am Thursday when police tried to pull over a car on 24th Avenue because it didn't have its headlights on.

"The driver initially pulled over but then took off as police approached the 1990 Plymouth Acclaim," says Corporal Henry Proce. "He then failed to stop for a stop sign and drove on the wrong side of the road before leaping from the vehicle and instructing his young daughter to do the same."

Proce says the vehicle narrowly missed the driver's 14-year-old daughter who also attempted to flee on foot.

"The vehicle proceeded some 30 ft across a residential lawn and crossed the street before a police officer was able to jump in, gain control and stop the vehicle safely."

Proce says the driver was located in the backyard of a nearby residence and the daughter was tracked down some time later. She has been turned over to family members.

The driver has been identified as Rodney Troy Brignall, 35, of Prince George and he's no stranger to the law.

His license has been suspended indefinitely and is facing charges of dangerous driving, no insurance and no driver’s license.
