Long Weekend Enforcement

Vernon RCMP were kept busy on the highways during the Canada Day long weekend.

During an aggressive enforcement campaign throughout the North Okanagan region, more than 200 drivers were cited for various offences.

These offences include:
  • Six drivers taken off the road for driving while impaired
  • 10 drivers issued 24-hour suspensions for alcohol
  • One driver issued a 24-hour suspension for drugs
  • 14 liquor charges issued
  • 29 drivers charged with failing to wear a seatbelt
  • 154 drivers charged with speeding
  • Four drivers charged for excessive speed
  • 15 drivers charged with driving without valid insurance
  • 25 drivers charged for various other offences.

RCMP in the North Okanagan say they will continue stepped up enforcement throughout the summer months.
