Five-month-old dog stolen from Vernon shelter

Puppy stolen from shelter

All Nicola Sanders wants is to find her son's dog.

Nala, a black Pyrenees-lab with white feet, was taken from the temporary shelter at the Vernon curling rink sometime overnight on Monday, Aug. 3.

Sanders said she has heard reports the five-month-old puppy has been spotted with people around town, but so far the pooch has not been found.

Sanders said people had earlier threatened to steal Nala and eventually they succeeded.

“They walked right out the front door with her. It has been reported to the police,” said Sanders, who has posted pictures of the dog on social media sites including the Vernon & Area Community Forum in an effort to locate the stolen pup.

Sanders said her son has had Nala since she was nine weeks old and the puppy is very bonded to her son.

“She's very friendly. She is the nicest dog,” said Sanders. “I'm pretty sure people know who took her, but they are not saying anything.”

Anyone with information on Nala are urged to contact the Vernon RCMP at 250-545-7171, or email Sanders at [email protected].
