Aggressive Drivers Targeted

Local RCMP were out in force Saturday targeting aggressive drivers in the Westbank and Peachland areas.

Police say the stretch of Highway 97 between the Summerland border and the Okanagan Lake Floating Bridge has been the scene of nine fatal accidents and 326 injury accidents over the past three years.

During a two hour period Saturday, RCMP charged nearly 120 drivers for various aggressive driving offences including speeding and failure to obey red lights.

RCMP say one driver was found to be under the influence of alcohol at 11am and had his licence suspended for 24 hours.
